RIP David Tomlinson.  Most little boys probably want to be Dick Van Dyke when the kids play Mary Poppins on their street (you didn't do that on your street?), but I always wanted to be Mr. Banks -- David Tomlinson. I was a budding Anglophile and loved his song "The Life I Lead."

But my favorite role of his was Emelius Brown, the headmaster of the Correspondence College of Witchcraft, in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. The romantic tension between his and Angela Lansbury's characters was my favorite change from the . And Portobello Road is one of my favorite Disney Songs of all time.
